The prices aren't terrible however, they don't have much. The "bookstore" can hold 3 people inside max!

So, the recommendation stands firm, bring the books with you or have them shipped, right?

Luggage space will be precious!! if you are coming first time to the island it might be easier to buy books here.
However, you should take in consideration that if you buy books in US from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Borders -you can get 20, 30 or 40% off on each book with coupons. So money wise, its better to buy and bring it here. Local bookstore will not offer you any discounts. Second, school bookstore sells new books only. You end up paying regular market price plus $10-15US paid in taxes to Antigua customs. Lastly, think of convenience one less worry on your to do list when you get here.

Thanks Sem. I assume that the book store also sells the other necessary supplies? That's probably a dumb question.

I finished all my pre-reqs last year and being a little older and wiser I came to appreciate how much of a scam the Text book industry can be! I figured that I would shop ahead and did get some pretty good deals but now have to lug them down with me to avoid spending all the money I saved to ship them! Awesome.

Hey Irish. Yeah, I'll be lugging them in my carry-ons as well. I also have the advantage of my wife helping me out! The only thing I'm semi-nervous about is if we have to take a smaller puddle-jumper plan from San Juan that requires to check bags gate-side. Sometimes if your bag is over a certain weight limit they whack you for a service charge. Oh well, not much you can do about that.

We're heading down on Sunday April 20th. Wanted to make sure we're set up and that my wife is good to go for working remotely before class starts. Plus we'll be looking at cars and all that good stuff.

Sem, thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to an AUA coffee mug. Did anyone else get a little foam AUA doctor toy when you interview or went to an info session? He's awesome and has also made the short list of things we're bringing with us to the island!

you got robbed man. My foam AUA doctor toy is awesome. I got one of those passport holders too actually. Customs ripped it off the second we landed in Antigua last December to visit.
