Hey all AUA students, you can do surgery at mount vernon. You can start any week, call is based on number of students. It is ACGME, and the residents are really cool. Parking is free and plenty of drug rep sponsered lunches and breakfasts.

533 points I heard this from someone else as well. Do you know, by any chance, which ACGME-accredited residency program this hospital is affiliated with?

510 points Hey guys,
The surgery program is ACGME through Sound Shore in New Rochelle, however, I didn't have too many of those drug rep breakfasts and lunches. Good luck to you all.
There are AUA and Ross students rotating through, start dates are flexible.

533 points That means nothing. Both AUA and Ross have sites which are unaccredited or otherwise unacceptable for licensure. But, we're new. I hope that, in the future, AUA acquires the kind of hospitals that SGU and AUC requires its students to rotate through. There are AUA and Ross students rotating through, start dates are flexible.
I don't see any solid evidence that the Mount Vernon program is accredited through Sound Shore. I saw this on the Sound Shore website:
But I see no mention of Mount Vernon on the acgme.org affiliations page under Sound Shore (see attached image). Is there someplace else I should be looking?SSMC and The Mount Vernon Hospital have developed an affiliation that consolidates and expands health care services offered to 250,000 people who live in southern Westchester. This affiliation reflects a regional approach to providing high quality health care through the integration of clinical services, the sharing of operational resources and the establishment of new programs.

510 points I see what you're saying Sree, but from what I was told by AUA is that the "surgery is through Sound Shore but is held on-site at Mount Vernon," essentially we get credit from Sound Shore having done Surgery, so on our transcript or official documentation it should show Sound Shore as giving us the credit for it. This is my understanding from AUA and from what I found out from asking. Hope this clears it up.
Plus the residents from sound shore do rotations through mount vernon hospital, so that makes it accredited by proxy.

533 points When this is true, the affiliated hospital is officially listed in the greenbook as an affiliate. This is the first time I'm seeing this not be the case.Plus the residents from sound shore do rotations through mount vernon hospital, so that makes it accredited by proxy.
