Thread: Can I postpone my arrival to the school?

Hey guys what's up? I was recently accepted to AUA for Sept. 07, but I might have to postpone my arrival to the school til jan 08. I recall having a conversation regarding this with my interviewer about coming to the school at a later semester but I just wanted to be sure if I could do that. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

Hi! Try calling the NY office in order to postpone your arrival to the school....it can be done, I know someone who got accepted for May 07 and post poned until Sept 07...but make sure you call ASAP!

You should be able to do so but you'll have to act quickly. You would want to contact the person that emailed you or contacted you regarding acceptance that way he or she will be able to direct you to the right office. But it can be done.

Don't know how much of a help I've been just realized the date of the thread.

YES, you are able to postpone.. I did it.. I was accepted for the May term and had to defer my starting date to Sept.
All you have to do is get in contact with the director of admissions. He will ask you to summit a letter explaning why you want to defer by email.. thats it. Oh make sure that you have a valid reason for postponing.

Yes, you can with a good excuse... if you get into Jan 08, I will see you there... thatz if I get my result this Thursday.. =D

yes you can postpone it for sure. I am also planning to postpone to jan cause can't get financing at the moment. When I spoke to the New Student Coordinator, she told me to send an e-mail to the Vice President for Enrollment Management with my information and a valid reason why you can't make it this semester. All the contacts are available on the main page. If you can't find it pm me and i will forward it to you.

Did you receive an email or anything else stating your email was received and your acceptance was deferred?

Yes, they replied to me by email the following day. And about 3 days later, i received a letter on the mail with the same information.

i sent an e-mail to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and told him abt not able to get financial aid being canadian. he said that if he can't geta program setup for canadian students then he will allow deferal for jan.
