AUA IT won't do anything... and i called ACT a few times... they are "looking into it". I get connected sometimes.... just wondering if there are any IT guru's on this forum that can suggest setting changes.

I called ACT on Friday and they told me that there is something wrong with their servers and they are trying to fix it. I was able to access then internet yesterday and today, but the connection speed is slower.

i'm an IT guru, the only solution is to get out of student housing so you have a choice of your ISP. i've been using c&w and it is SOOO much better. i have a 3 megabit line now, compared to the 400k line was getting before with garbage ACT

I agree with Doc.
My wife's ACT is always on and off. She tried the tech support and spent hours with them on the phone as well as going there in person. All they could suggest is that it's a "virus", but there are no virus's on her comp(according to Norten and Mcaffe). It's their network thats on and off not your computer 99% of the time.

Just looking at options for calling back home to the states (will be on the island in fall 08) and have been looking at the Yahoo Voice service. I kno a lot of you have vonage or skype but was wondering what some peoples opinons are of Yahoo Voice and if that is comparable to vonage or skype (voice/connection quality..etc.). Thank you.

I use yahoo voice since the calls are only 1c/min back to the US. The quality is the same as skype..i think vonage is a "little" better..but i'm also using the mic built into my computer instead of an actual phone handset like you use with vonage. But then again, if you want to call friends and family, just make sure they either have AIM, yahoo, or skype. Computer to computer calls are free on those networks.

so all in all, a decent internet connection is non-existent at AUA.. regardless of what you're willing to pay..
