premed application

Hello, I'm new to this forum and I really need some help with a lot of things. First off I am a student in Canada attending university and I just finished my 2nd year. I've decided to apply to AUA's pre-med program and in doing so I believe they may have sent me the wrong application. On the application it is saying that I need certain university requirements or pre-med requirements to get into the MD program. But if I'm applying to the pre-med program why would I need these requisites? I was under the impression that the pre-med program was for people out of highschool. I'm obviously not, but I lack the requirements (Bio, Chem, Orgo etc.). I don't have a degree in science, I was majoring in psychology. I don't know what to do, how can I complete an application form that doesn't pertain to what I want to do. Does the pre-med and basic med program share the same requirements? How do I get into the pre-med program? I sent the application for $75 or whatever it was online, and I specifically clicked "pre-med", then why did they send me an application for the basic med program? Either I'm totally lost or I just didn't research enough. Someone please help!!

what you need to do is contact the new york office, and speak to someone that can send you the right application. but you are right, you don't need orgo, bio etc for premed. thats what you take here in the premed program. if you need any help, feel free to contact me!

it's the same app...there is no different app for pre-med

just fill it out as usual, put down the pre-reqs you've taken, if any, and send it in.

this is just an outline, when you send in your transcript, this is when they decide which credits they will take and what you will be taking when you start premed

Thanks for the help guys. Also I noticed that the application costs $75 online, and they require an additional $75 when submitting the documents. Is this true? (just clarifying)

no you only pay $75 once for application whether online or by mail. If you already made the payment via internet then ur good. Just send in your papers.

Once I send everything in, how long would it take to hear a response back from them? I want to apply for Jan '08, would it be enough time?

I just had a question about letters of recommendation, if I want to apply to multiple places, do I request that my sources write me a few copies? Because I don't think schools would accept photocopies. I clearly need some help!

Generally, your source sends one copy to your schools' credentials office, and they store the recommendations, make photocopies and mail it to wherever you request.

If you have a question, post it at the AUA forum. I can't respond to PMs due to Step 2 coming up very soon.
