I just filled out my housing request forms last week. The way it works once you are accepted you receive an email that has a link to all of the forms you will need to fill out. With the exception of financial aid.

So, you make your seat deposit...$250. You fill out your 1st 2nd and 3rd choice for housing and you send the school all of your travel info. When you arrive, weather you would like someone to pick you up at the air port etc. You also need to fill out a health insurance form that either will provide you health insurance very cheep or you can decline the insurance if you have other insurance.

The financial aid is a little different. First you send the school a photo copy of your pass port drivers license (or state ID card) and your social security card. Then they send you a letter of approval for financial aid and some other forms I think... I will have more info on this in a few days since I am currently waiting for my financial aid documents.

Maybe someone else can fill in the gaps on the financial aid issue.

There is a link on the web site that has photos of the housing and a map that shows where the housing is located and which transportation group it is in. You can buy a semester long bus pass that will get you to and from school every day of the week. The price of the pass depends on where you live.

I think that about covers what I know. I will add more when I know more.

Housing in Antigua...why so much???

Is it me or do the landlords in Antigua think they're living in NY....they are asking for 1000+ US dollars a month for rent, and that doesn’t include utilities. I don’t want to sound rude but they're asking for to much I think, it is a 3rd world country. Look at the link http://auamed.org/IndyHousing/indyhousing.html

Can current AUA students tell me if there are better deals out there or if this is just some marketing gimmick and once you call, can you bargain with them for a better deal.

I think the best move is to rent with another student and share the burden.
You are not the only to mention what those landlords are asking for renting a one bedroom Apt. It's ridiculous!
It's like paying a mortgage...
I just wish AUA had its dorms and could provide better housing for its students.

the average price is more in sxm. i paid $1000 a month, and i lived in a hole. the good one bedroom apts up the street started at $1200.
ive seen some with a family pay close to $2000 for a two bedroom.
these were all close to school. im sure you can find cheaper in bad areas of the island.

from what i hear, smu students on the caymans pay even more for off campus housing.

Holy crap!

I thought I heard worst!
It's like the Caribbean is getting even more expensive than the states.
