Well Cortsland is a hotel, with a communal kitchen and a restaurant on site. Jacobs looks more like an apartment building.

do you have any recent pics or info about cortsland? i went to there website, and the pictures look completely old school. i know that there are better places to live down there, but i wanted to choose the most economical way and closer place to school, since i will not be having any transportation.

My friend stayed in Cortsland before she moved to Anchorage. The mattresses were stained yellow, as well as the toilet and part of the tub. And there's one light in the room. And her AC was leaking coolant. She took pictures in order to prove her point to the housing department and be allowed to move. As for walking, the people that live in cortsland don't walk often, but they do sometimes. It's about 15 min. unless you're a fast walker. But yeah, if you don't want to sign up for the bus that's ok, because the drivers don't check the IDs so you could still get on it if you wanted to. This semester, when it came to going home, Cortsland was the 4th residence to be dropped off, so technically I guess it is quicker to walk home, but you wouldn't want to in the rain.

Hey....

Any details about Jacobs? Hearing that about Cortsland makes me a bit nervous (although I've stayed in some shady places in my travels before)

Cheers...

Just go to the student housing office and ask them when you get your key.

Closest housing to (New) Campus

I'm interested (and a bit confused) as regards the new campus. When does it open? How will it change the dynamic of housing as regards closeness to the campus? Any information is appreciated.

2nd and 4th semester med students have class there. As to when it will be finished, I guess within the next 2 years. There's slow progress being made. Student housing on that side of town is Amor Villas, sandpiper, Utopia, and Mandalay.
