These are the books Ive been using - Mosby's for DPS - Histology, A Text and Atlas and Histology and Cell Biology BRS - Essentials of Clinical Anatomy and Netter's Atlas for Anatomy and Gross Anatomy BRS. Those are the books that work for me. Everyone is different and you just have to find out how you can study best. Some people go strictly for BRS and the notes from class and other people try and read everything. Best bet is to buy what you think you'll need at home, because it is about a 1/3 the cost in the states than it is in the bookstore down here.

My opinion on the text i used... and so far so good as far as grades go...
Doctor, Patients, and Society
Also, buy whatever u can used off amazon, as long as u can sacrifice the luggage weight. Books here are slightly more expensive compared to brand new online, however buying the books USED will save u about half the cost.

regarding books
I bought all my books through amazon.com ...all brand new under $170....I would suggest anyone to buy books from states in advance and then carry with you on your carryon luggage....since most of the flights do not weigh your carryon....you should easily carry those books...also in terms of what to buy....
Anatomy - Moore (smaller version), Netters book and Netters flash cards BRS gross anatomy and BRS embryology. DPS - Mosby's textbook Histology - Histo textbook and guide to usmle.... DPS labs/Anatomy labs - 2 pairs of scrubs, a lab coat (do not matter short or long), stethescope, BP cuff and clipboard (is a must or else you wont be alow to take anatomy lab exams) These are my preference and majority of the students do fine with this...please do not overload your luggage by buying recommended list of texts given to you...I mean if you want to...its upto you...these are just my thoughts. |
