i think it's best to just suck it up and buy the books at the bookstore here....granted the campus "bookstore" is the size of a bathroom back in the states (with books stacked up all around), they do have an adequate amount of the books required, and they have supposedly reduced prices also (to amazon.com prices). so, i would say....use your suitcase space wisely, bring enough stuff to last you a whole semester.
the bad things about books are that they take up a lot of weight in lesser space. so, if you were to put textbooks in a suitcase, they would only take up (area-wise) half a suitcase, but that half would already be 50 lbs and you'd be screwed. i bought all my books when i got here a couple weeks ago, and spent 200-change. not bad at all, much less than i expected. however, do buy a pair of scrubs and a stethescope, as well as a white coat, if you can, back at the states....they seem to overprice those bigtime. also, be reminded that you need to have a few sets of "nice" clothes, becuase they EXPECT you to dress up (shirt and tie for guys, as i was told) when you go to the hospitals and see patients for the DPS class. good look ya'll.....don't be intimidated...it's tough, but if you come here with a determined mind, nothing cannot be accomplished |

you really need review books for anatomy & histology.
embryo is sufficient just from class notes. i didn't see netter's atlas in your list. get an old version of it if you can. nonetheless, i think what you have there in your list is good. |

Is this the Netter atlas you're referring to: Amazon.com: Atlas of Human Anatomy: With STUDENT CONSULT Access (Netter Basic Science): Books: Frank H. Netter Also, which review books (titles if you know them) do you suggest? Thanks. |

yup that is the netter's atlas i'm referring to. if you can get a previous version of it then that is fine (you'll save cash)
anatomy = board review series anatomy by chung. most of the high scorers swore by this text book as do i. histology = high yield histology is sufficient but not necessary. The class notes from histo class is where most of the test questions come from so really a review book isn't necessary. embryo = don't need one, trust me. lecture notes are sufficient. |
