Loans

Have you applied for Government loans? We have OSAP here in Ontario. Once you apply to OSAP, you automatically get considered for scholarships and other government grants available.

Other option is to get a co-signer and get a loan from Royal Bank. They will give you up to $150K for med school.

Canadian Loans !

Dr.Azimi,
For Canadian Loans, you have 3 options.. as far as I know

1. Apply for OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program), their URL is
http://osap.gov.on.ca please copy paste this url.. note there is no "www".
if you are the first time user (which i am guessing), just click on check loan status(coz it does'nt matter where you click, most of the links ends up being at the same place anyways..lol). You will then be asked for some personal information and will have to choose a password ..DONOT forget the password otherwise, after 3 attempts it will kick you out and you won't be able to access it untill you call them and set it up again (pain in the B**T). Make sure while selecting the school, you choose Kasturba Medical College ( 2 reasons.. first is very simple.. AUA is not atleast 10 years old since its establishment, so it is still not recognized by the OSAP Guidelines ie. Rules and secondly, it is affiliated with KMC-India). All your stuff will be sent to India and NY office and KMC-India will co-ordinate...)

2. Apply for RBC Student line of credit for a max. of 150,000 with a cosigner (they normally donot require co-signer, but since you will be attending an institution outside of Canada, they need someone to hold on to....). Check with RBC customer service rep. (these people specialize in Professional Line of Credit Loans). 1 800 807 2683 and follow the link below to read more. I strongly suggest that you find out if the school(both AUA and KMC..wutever works..) is listed in their directory of approved schools. But make sure you book an appointment with a Personal Banker to do the Loans.. it makes a lot of difference. Even if they insist you to do it over the phone.. donot do so..

3. Apply through IEFC (www.iefc.com).. call them and they will help you. Again you will have to apply as KMC student.

Hope This Helps !!
