How is it that there are doctors practicing medicine in California that have gone to medical school in Canada, India, Pakistan, Iraq, China, Russia, Japan, South America, Mexico, etc, and that is fine? And here we are wondering that AUA is not approved. Thats pathetic, that I personally know someone that when to a small medical school in India on a donation basis, and is now a ER doc in Los Angleles. And yea that might be one case, which I know isnt, how come AUA is not approved by California. Thats complete nonsense. Also, what about if I attend AUA and gradaute from AUA in 2010 and AUA gets approved for in Cali in 2011? What happens then?
Das coz all those doctors converted there medical liecences from there countries to US.

Veterans Administration

has issued an approved medical school list board certification not withstanding for job application. So I believe they are trying to limit the Carribean sphere of influence.

These "California is unfair!" threads are boring without the AUA official coming on and shouting about suing California for not playing by their own rules when AUA is caught listing a California Rotation site without even applying.

it is highly unlikely that one can work in a VA hospital ina state they are not licensed because while its is true that VA is a federal building and you need a license in any state... all the VA hospitals that i have been through had clinics, diagnostic centers, pharmacies etc that were not on site so you'd be restricted to woring in the hospital only, no clinic, and maybe your orders for diagnostic tests and scripts could be questioned bc you are writing them in the physical location were you are not authorized to practice medicine? i know you can write a script or call in to any state but the question is if you are physically at the location and have no license there?

its too much hassle, too much gray areas that lawyers love to sue... and this is even considering a VA hospital would even hire you.. look at recruitment ads for VA system..all of them say a valid license in that state is required.

another thing you can look at is the indian health system since it isd also not governed by state laws... point is if you want to work in a state that requires school approval just attend one of those schools....

VA route is a myth. While it's true that VA is federal property and federal law says you only need a license from any US jurisdiction, VA docs venture into State domain on a regular basis. For instance, most VA patients have other forms of insurance such as private or Medicaid (administered by the State). VA actively bills these insurances, many of which requires physician credentialing, including state license in the state where services are rendered. Besides, most VA physicians are faculty members of their affiliated med schools, and most VA physician job descriptions require you to be appointed to the faculty of their affiliated med schools. You cannot be appointed to faculty at a CA med school without a CA license.

So while it's technically true under federal law that all you need is a license from any state, it's virtually impossible to get hired without a state license in the state the VA is located.
