and getting back to your earlier questions, you can definately get burned if a school closes down at any of these points. for example, say you graduate, you have your diploma in your hands, it doesn't mean a hill of beans if the residency program you match at requires your school to verify important info (i.e., transcripts, clerkships, etc). you cannot verify this info, the school must do it.

then you must verify all your info with FCVS (federal credentials verification service, you can google it), and that is a US office that will hold all foreign documents, so that if your school closes down while you are in residency, you can still get a permanent license. 48/50 states accept it, and many now require this service.

better to go to a school where you don't have to worry about this
Hey, Can you send me a link to this law. I have above a 200 on step 1. B/c if it is truly illegal for them to require that I take the 5th semester (for instance AUA wants me to take pharm & behavioral sci ) than I can use it to appeal to them to put me in the clinicals right away.

St Lukes closed down a year later, and right now MUA-Belize is bitting the dust.
AGU ????? why, go to a more established school. chances are GOOD that it will not be around by the time you finish your 4 years. chances are GOOD that SGU/Ross/AUC/Saba/St Matts will be by the time you finish.

please take it from some of us who have seen many a school close down in the last few years.
can you elaborate on the situation in MUA-Belieze... I want to apply there

You're also aware of which schools are able to get licensure in which states, right? Not all offshore schools are equal in this aspect.

Some of the expressions are true about the schools in the caribbean . . . but the only thing they have right is that AGU is a newer school . . . it is also located in Belize and for some reason, there have been a few schools in Belize that have not done well. Not because of the location . . . but possibly because of the people running the school. The location does not make a school . . . it is the quality of the people behind the school. AGU is a newer school and it will continue to grow and one day it will have the bragging rights of the other schools which have been around for a long time! Don't select a school on where is it located, also don't select a school from what you read on this forum . . . the only research which is valid is the research you do for yourself. Check out the school . . . talk with students who attend the school . . . they will be your best resource!

yes,

by all means talk to the students affiliated with the school. ESPECIALLY THOSE STUDENTS DOING ROTATIONS WITH AGUISM!!!! DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR AND CHAT WITH THE CLINICAL STUDENTS FIRST AND BE SURE TO ASK ABOUT THEIR "EXPERIENCES"

The only school I would consider, out of all of the schools located in Belize is CAHSU. They have the longest and most consistent track record and the best administrative organization with several offices strategically located and seem to be responsive to the students needs, having said the above, they still have never applied for New York State approval or any other as I understand it-so bear that in mind-it's a big negative.

No other schools in Belize should be considered. The rest are all high risk and should be avoided. There's no reason to to look at AGU when there are other schools in the area that have track records of approval and investment. Two thumbs down on the idea of entering AGU.

Ironic, that "SaveDarfur" believed to be the owner of the nearly defunct MUA Belize should be giving advice on clerkships or clinical rotations, as her school at last glance didn't have any ACGME (Greenbook) rotations either!
Talk about Chutspa!

A.T. i am not a school administrator or dean or anything. HOW CAN THE ROTATIONS FOR MUA BELIZE NOT BE GREENBOOK? WHEN XAVIER, ST.EUSTATIUS, AND MANY OTHERS USE THE SAME IDENTICAL AGENCIES? did you fall and hit your head when you were a baby?

1. Thanks for pointing out that your "medical school" never even had a clinical coordinator of it's own, never could form / had any affiliations of it's own with any hospitals that would trust your students in the wards with their patients, and thus you are forced to use equally as illegitemate third party agencies to implement and execute your "medical schools" third and fourth year! (What?! A "medical school" with no third or fourth year of it's own? How can that be?! (Hint: It can't!) (Really scary! Anyone getting the picture here...)

These facts alone should tell any prospective student all he or she has to know, in order to stay far, far away from MUA Belize! (or as I like to say, MUA Don't Believe).

2. Thanks for pointing out the other schools to prospective students, which like your school, have no approval from any state and no infrastructure to execute a third a fourth year of their "medical schools" education.

3. What you didn't point out, is that the GMC - your third party agency/poor substitute for an actual medical education in Atlanta shares the same principals with the school you mentioned - Xavier (read:same owner!) Wow! What a surprise, eh? Oh, and could there be anyone who doesn't know by now....that their "clinical rotations" are unapproved, unsanctioned, NOT ACGME, and therefore are not greenbook...

4. Your students will not be able to receive licensure when the board looks at their transcripts and documents and cannot verify they did any approved ACGME third and fourth year rotations! Those whole two years will be null and void! So much lost time, so much lost money down the drain. And of course you don't care that they will have a meaningless "degree" that means absolutely nothing in the U.S.

The bottom line is what? In your above statement you're saying that other third tier medical schools, run like yours, deceiving and misleading their students by sending those same students to non approved, non ACGME, non greenbook rotations make it ok for you to send your students there?

Good Grief! I'm sending your name in to the Countdown with Kieth Olbermann show on MSNBC for it's "Worst Person in the World" segment!

Remember: MUA Belize has NO licensed graduates, NO buildings owned, NO medical center or hospital, NO University affiliation, NO undergraduate programs, NO Masters programs, NO medical research, NO ACGME (Green book) clinical rotations, NO loan programs, NO DOE approval, NO State approvals, NO CT, Doppler or any other medical technology, NO infrastructure etc...All of this Equals = NO Medical School!
