If you have genuine interest in this university, why would you not contact the school directly and speak to an admissions or student coordinator? Or better yet, contact the students who attend this university. There is a student government!

    Thumbs down

I did just do that. 6 students and 2 full time professors. One part time and NO Americans. Why don't you try being honest in your advertisements.

I am not quite sure where you have received your information, but unfortunately you have been misguided . . . Once again, if one has true interest in any university it would benefit the inquirer to truly investigate the university for themself. The AGU campus currently in Belmopan (which is the capitol city of Belize) is a newer university. The campus location was decided in part for serious student involvement in their studies and the community. Students enrolled in the Anatomy course this semester visit the hospital in Belize City once a week to scrub, dress, and enter a real surgical operating room (awesome hands on learning experience which can be attributed to one of the teaching surgeons on staff). The University has a curriculum which mirrors the quality of U.S. medical school standards. The courses are taught by a group of full-time U.S. and British MD physicians and a part time local faculty member who joined the staff after leaving another medical school in Belize. Social activities are planned by the student social committee . . . some of their events have included day excursions to Hopkins (Jaguar Reef) and Placencia (******* Cove). Engineering studies went into the decision making for campus location. The University owns 150 acres of land in Mahogany Hts. which is located approximated 45 minutes from the International Airport in Ladyville, Belize. Ground breaking will produce a multi-million dollar medical complex facility which will house a medical university campus and medical hospital facility. A facility of this magnitude would not be possible on a small tourist Island.

The comments you have mentioned in your 10-4-06 post are not becoming of a student inquiring about information regarding admissions into any medical university. Prospective students using this line of unprofessional communication regarding race or nationality would not be welcome at a university of this caliber.

Every medical school in Carribbean had to start from 1 student at the first semester and they had to got through the state of Semester 1. The only solution is wait and see. If you are not happy with AGU please do not come to AGU. As far as I understand Value Med forum is a constructive site to exchange information concerning teaching between the students. It should not be a battle field to boast own school and to decline others.

    Again: 2 simple questions

How many students are in med 1 and how many full time profs??????????

The fact is this school is a joke and since the administartion will not answer these questions with just simple answers, shows this school is shaky at best!!!!!

Remember: If this school fails, you cannot take your USMLE!

I'm not sure I understand your angle. You ask questions and then answer your own question in the next line. If you are interested in the school, fine. If you think the school is a joke, then avoid it like the plague. It is that simple. Don't be a troll.

Actually everything he is saying are appropriate questions. How many students is not a nonsense question, nor is how many professors. When he asks how many professors are american, you bring race into it? Last time I checked americans were not a race. But anyways having american professors is a big deal......since he will be practicing in america. Sure anyone can teach basic sciences but having people who know the american medical system is a big deal. If you're a student then open your eyes, be honest with answers, and dont jump down peoples throats. If you are a university official then the way you answer questions is pathetic.

I dont go to AGU, nor am i interested. I'm finishing up my 4th year in a couple months.....so I will ask these questions. How many students from your school have taken the USMLE? How many tries did it take to pass? How many states can you be licensed in (you say all 50 and your full of it)?

I never asked how many profs were white, black, asian etc. I asked HOW MANY WERE AMERICAN??? And I also asked how many total (although I have heard 2 full time). I also asked how many students. If anyone finds these questions offensive, I am sorry!

I don't sense anything racist. Your way of asking questions is a bit odd. Let's put it in the context of someone buying a used car. If you were doing that it would go something like this:

Can you tell me a little about the car? How many miles does it have on it, has it ever been in an accident, what kind of mileage does it get? This car is a piece of dung, I don't know why anyone would buy this car, you must have rolled back the odemeter.
It seems to me you have no reason to ask the questions you are asking since you already know all of the answers and have obviously made the decsion the school isn't right for you. Time to move on.....
