Lightbulb Premed at All Saints

All Saints University has a 4 semster premed program which accepts students that have completed High School and transfer students who are finishing up their BSc..... I believe that this is a great/faster way to get a MD if you are sure that you want to become a Dr. .... Like me - i am 100% sure that i want to become a Dr. i know that i attending All Saints i wont be able to practice in some sates ( Ca, Kansas, etc) but i will recieve a MD by the time i am 22-23 (way faster than all the others i noe)..... All Saints gurantees you admission into the MD program after completion of thier premed so there is no pressure of having to apply again or anything!!! Once your in your in!!! If you would like more info on the MD or premed program at All Saints plz visit www.allsaintsuniversity.org

If you're SURE you want to be a doctor quickly straight out of high school, why not try a **/MD program in the states first? Or what happens if God forbid, you flunk out All Saints/can't pass the USMLE? You'll only have a high school diploma with which to pay back all that debt.

This premed route might be good for the non traditional students, such as those coming in from other fields. But don't shoot yourself in the foot before you're even out of the gate.

Well by doining the Premed at All Saints i also get a head start on all the MD classes..... also i one is dedicated to the casue there is no way one can fail USMLE..... lastly its a lot cheaper at All Saints...... one more thing, the only thing that holds a person back is him/her self......

the choices we make some understandable other not so..... but you still have to live on.....

In my mind it all makes sense and that all that matter to me........

Not necessarily. Someone might:
a) Not be academically prepared in terms of studying, self-discipline, etc
b) *cough* Might not be mentally.. eer, sufficient
c) Might find out that medicine or ASUM is not for them, then what?

It's best to get a degree first. Try premed the traditional route, go for the gold first instead of immediately settling for whatever comes after bronze. To recommend that high schoolers go straight for a relatively brand new Caribbean medical school is less than sage advice. It might work for some, but it's something I would recommend only as a far last choice.

Well if u are not sure about medicine then, i agree that u should go to a US college and get a BSc....

As far as "GOLD" the only gold i c is the MD and nothing else..... why bother for a BSc when you have your eyes and mind set on a MD.....

As far as a school not being for some1..... i dont understand.... a school is a school......so what if you dont like the students or the school facilities - hell i dont like the some of the students or some facilities but thats not what should matter.... the teachers here are well qualified to prepare students for USMLE and thats all that matter!!! "the school is not for me" - i look at that as a lame excuse..... Other students that went thru the program are now in clinicals and they had no problem with USMLE so i am preety confident in the program that All Saints offers....

Its like i said if it makes sense to you then do it, if it doesnt than dont!!! --

i wont bash all saints (its way too easy) but I will say that becoming the next doogie houser is extremely overrated...you gain absolutely nothing by skipping out on the college experience..except a degree from a meaningless institution and being looked down upon by your peers for the rest of your medical career.

whoops..i guess i did bash all saints...but i didnt mean to..it was pretty much unavoidable =/

i guess if you go to All Saints, study hard, be dedicated to your work, pass all exams, USMLE or Canada MLE (if there is anything like Canada MLE or Stone MLE or Website MLE), make sure you know the stuff very well, I don't think your peers will look down upon you. All you will be saying is: next patient please..... and patients will be rolling in and you will be doing some wonderful job.

Thank you.

There is nothing like SABA IMG, Ross IMG or MUA IMG.... They will look at everybody as an IMG. And what if I get my MD and decide not to work in the USA? I can work anywhere all over the world. In other countries, they won't even see you as an IMG, they see you as a qualified Medical Doctor!!

Period.

Thank you.

Smile I don't post that often

The main reason that I don't post is because most people use this site to bash, whether they be from their own school putting it down or a different school and trying to put them down.
I will say what I know is a fact - students have transferred out of All Saints from their pre-med program (mainly because they miss home) and all of their pre-med credits have been fully recognized at American institutions back home. One student had finished 2 semesters and just transferred to Arizona State. So I wouldn't say it is a complete waste of time. I do a agree if you are unsure what you want, medicine or other, don't come. Because it is a new school you better be a 100 percent dedicated to the program because that will be the only way you are going to get through.

All men desire greatness, few have the drive and the passion to achieve it.
