yes that would be correct. But from what i've read on these boards many people don't want to waste a year and apply to the Caribbean with the mentality that "In the end its still an MD." Some people learn after applying the extra hoops needed to jump through, The difference between being an AMG and IMG/FMG, difference in getting university based or community based residencies etc. I learned about all these things just recently after I had applied. If this was my first US application cycle i would have definitely deferred to give myself one more shot at US schools, but i have already been through 3 cycles and now must get myself ready to tackle whatever roadblocks are there for IMGs.
