Accepting students out of U.S. high schools into the International Program is an interesting idea. They would have to spend some money promoting it at first. It's quite a thought. I'm sure the entrance requirements would be similar to the latin program entrance requirements. Maybe the junior high transcript request would start to make sense.

As far I know the January entering class does have to wait the 6 months to enter residency. I've heard of some places having mini-residencies if you need something to do. The January class could be of benefit to someone that has to take a semester off, or has to repeat a semester though. A semester off for the USMLE step 1 might not be a bad idea either. I have no idea as to the school's flexibility on this though. As far as the class experience goes, one doctor had mentioned to me that the January class is a better time to take the Anatomy lab (you would have a smaller class, so you would have better access to the cadavers and to the instructor for questions) So, I assume that the classes are just cut down in size, rather than a cutting down of instructors, or cadavers per room.

If you start in January does that mean that you have to wait for the match??? If so what do people do??? (loans, school etc...) I am trying to see the pros and cons of starting in January vs. August. One more question, if the fifth pathway route is closed then what is the point of having the requirements for the international program???? If I am not mistaken the national program doesn't require them and the students go straight from high school??? Anyone know what will happen with the requirements???? ( I wish I could have gone there straight from high school even if it was 6 yrs!)
