hello. i have been accepted to aua into 4th semester starting in sept.
gratz
so i still have time to go before i enter rotations. but i am confused.
ok
it says that we have to do rotations in med, sur, gyne etc. does that mean that we do rotations in all these areas in both our 3rd and 4th year of med school???.
there is no third and fourth years of medical school, rotations are scheduled in weeks. surgery is 12 weeks, medicine is 12, ob/peds/psych/family are 6 weeks each. you can schedule these rotations anytime you want during your clinical period. go to the aua website and read more about electives, because it's explained well enough over there.

Also, do we start the rotations right after the 5th semester so that means we have to pass step1 while we are IN the 5th semester.
no, most people take 4-6 months off after 5th to study for and take the exam.

and how do we know where we will do the rotations. i was reading some of the threads and a lot of students are saying that we cannot do all the rotations in MI hospitals.
if you are interested in doing greenbook core rotations (see my signature link for more information), then nyc is the only place you can do all your rotations. if you don't mind doing osteopathic rotations, michigan is fine.
esp peds n psych so where can we do them at and does aua help the students set up the rotations or do we have to do that all by ourselves??.
yeah this isnt some small school, they don't "help the students" do anything. they schedule you for them and you show up. it's very simple.

if anyone is currently going thru the 5th semester in MI or rotations i would like to know what their experience has been so far.
someone posted about them, search the forum
I don wanna move around during my rotations and i am from MI so i wanna do 5th semester n most rotations in MI and it looks like i cant.
once again, if you are looking for greenbook rotations only, you can do everything except OB, psych and peds in michigan.
i am waiting to hear from St. Eustatius School of med and as far as i know i can do all my rotations in chicago so if i get in there i don't know what i will do.
st. eu does not have all greenbook rotations in chicago. if you are making a decision between st. eu and aua, there is absolutely no reason to go to st. eu. even if you decide to do osteopathic rotations (OB, Peds, Psych) in michigan you can practice in more places than you can by going to St. Eu and doing rotations in chicago.

Smaller schools tend to tell students they can do "all their rotations" in one place and neglect to tell them that these rotations may not be accredited. You need to get familiar with acgme.org/adspublic.

from what they telling me i will most likely be placed in the 4th semester there too. i am really confused on which school to go to. so students who are currently in 5th semester in MI please tell me how is it and wen do we take step 1 and wen do we start rotations and if aua helps us get them?.
no idea where you get this "help us get them" part from. Schools don't provide clinical rotations as a favor or because they feel like being nice to you, they do it because you pay them tuition.
