Well the banks will give you a debit card, im not too sure abotu the checks! Its actually better to open up an account here, scotiabank, because when you use your debit card from the states, it usually charges you some sort of fee everytime.

And with the check you get during registration, the bank on the island will cash it RIGHT AWAY rather than waiting a week or so, as you would in the states!
