We have a number of physicians on staff at the medical center where I work who completed 6-year programs... that is the European standard. I am certainly not aware of any bias for or against either option. It appears to me that the main determining factors for matching in a US residency will be 1) your USMLE scores, and 2) whether or not you have the requisite social and ancillary skills to present yourself well in an interview and on paper.
