MCC and USMLE

I emailed the college about this a few weeks ago and this is the response i got:

The College’s Council has recently approved the Acceptable Qualifying Examinations policy.

Specifically, under this policy the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) from 2004 onward which included Steps 1, 2 (Clinical Knowledge and Clinical Skills) and 3 is now considered equivalent to the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) Parts 1 and 2.

Without the USMLE Step 3 the College will not accept your USMLE results as an acceptable alternative to the MCCQE Parts 1 and 2.

I would urge you to carefully review the Acceptable Qualifying Examinations policy posted in the registration part of our website.

Note, however, that the Acceptable Qualifying Examinations policy is strictly a College policy, pertaining only to the College’s own registration requirements. If you are considering registration elsewhereyou must check with the organizations concerned, as they are entitled to set their own registration requirements.

I trust this information will be of assistance. If you have any further questions about registration with the College, please do not hesitate to write or telephone me.
