(note: I do believe that if you do the crime then the punishment should fit it). "With that said I think 28 months was unfair."
The judge applied his criteria using sentencing guidelines, all Federal judges do, so under such guidelines, the judge imposed 28 months as he saw the punishment fit it.
This is what happened during the hearing: Vick pleaded guilty to one count of "conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture" in a plea agreement filed in U.S. District Court in Richmond.
During the hearing, U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson asked Vick if he understood the charge. Vick responded, "Yes sir."
The judge reminded Vick that he does not have to accept the deal's recommended sentence of 12 to 18 months.
"I place a lot of weight on the government's recommendations but I am not bound by that," Hudson said. "The decision is mine." He was asked again if he understood that, and Vick said.."Yes"
That seals the deal, he made bad choices, broke the law, said he understood what could happen to him and went on to plea guilty, now he is playing prison foootball, very simple, his problem now.
As for the Barbie bandits, they were sentenced at State level, NOT Federal. I explained why you get minimum jail time at the FEDERAL level in my original post. State's have different sentencing guidelines and probation figures among them in almost all States, not at the Federal level.

As far as the biased judicial system I recently read an article about the barbie bandits (not pertaining to dog fighting) where one of the girls was given 10 years probation for robbery...come on now, not biased? not a horrible system?
Anyways my friend, ethnicity had nothing to do with it. I hope you didn't make the correlation due to my disagreement with vick's sentence and my avatar.
