here is the thing that is interesting. i never understood why people keep saying that if a school is not approved by new york, then you cant do residency. the new york approval is only for rotations in the state. it even says that on the website that lists the schools approved.
i have seen people post correspondence that they had with the new york medical board in which the new york medical board stated that they couldnt do a residency in the state from an unapproved school. i dont understand that because ive seen plenty of students from unapproved schools do a residency in new york.
even look at st james. i remember when these residents were on those hospital websites listed as st james graduates. the FM new york grad was at SUNY stony brook.
