Thank-you once again for the feedback, I really appreciate it.
First of all, I have not made any decision on where I want to go that is why I started this thread to get peoples feedback and input as to what they think. It may sound like I am favoring one school (Windsor) but I am not.
I believe that first impressions leave lasting impressions. When I was doing a search on med schools and trying to figure out which school was better (Antigua or Windsor), I found the Windsor website contained a lot of relevant information and explained more things in detail about their curriculum and what they had to offer to prospective med students. As well, they have mandatory classes that all students have to take to prepare for the USMLE. They also have speical projects (Project 2400) that students can get invovled with which will help them become better physicians.
When I was browsing the Antigua website I found they did now offer students a lof of information into their program besides the basics (curriculum, cost, housing, etc.). They didn't go above and beyond what I think is necessary to attract students. I was actually having a hard time finding some things on the website probably because they didn't bother to include it on their page. Don't get me wrong YOU CAN'T JUDGE A SCHOOL BY ITS WEBSITE but if you're a student trying to get into a foreign med school you are more than likely going to favor a school that has more to offer to its students and provides the student with more information regarding their school. I have no doubt that Antigua has top notch facilities but that is because they are a newer school with a higher tuition cost so they can afford to buy newer supplies and highter so called better profs.
In terms of accreditations, Windsor is accredited and you can find all that information on their website. I don't know who said they are not accredited? Just a silly rumor going around. Both, Windsor and Antigua are WHO affiliated as well. That is obvious.
In terms of money, I hear the same thing over and over time and time again "the more expensive or the more bigger it is, means its better or will last longer." FALSE!!! FALSE!!!! FALSE!!!!
Just because something costs more doesn't necessarily mean it is better. You you have to look at the bigger picture and see which school offers a better program and which school has better affiliations with hospitals in the USA where students are able to do their clinicals. Mind you, both schools have great affiliations with hospitals in the USA but Im guessing because AUA is charging more money for tuition they are probably paying the hospitals in NY more money so I wouldn't doubt it that they have some agreement so NY can accept more students. Also, the head office for Antigua is located in NY so they better have an affiliation with a majority of the hospitals in NY otherwise something is seriously wrong.
Lastly, this is a reply to docplucinski who said that Windsor does not have loans. They sure do!!!
Once it again it sounds like I am defending Windsor which I am sorta but Im just trying to make people aware that you have to do your research. You can't solely rely on a few things for example cost and think just because it costs more to go there its a better school or because they got NY approval and the other school doesn't so its a better school. Granted the profs might be better at Antigua (don't know for sure) but then again, In the end, believe or not, it all depends upon the student and not the prof. How dedicated, hard working, and willing is the student to become a doctor.
I had a friend that went to Aruba medical school and he is now doing his clinical in Indiana. Im sure if I started talking about Aruba med school people would be talking bad about Aruba med school and saying that is it crap because they don't have NY approval and because they don't have a high tuition or because their profs are supposedly not as good as the ones in Antigua.
Another questions??? Where does Antigua stack up against St.George, Ross, Saba, AUC
