I think Tipton is talking about NRIs getting into KMC on merit.

It's not that hard to get in as an NRI, but they require a "donation" (= suitcase full of cash). The total amount you pay is around 60-70,000 USD and that's your tuition for the six years. It works the same way at pretty much every Indian school that I've heard of.
