2. If so, how was the experience? see above

4. Do you have to petition the Mexican government to complete the last 2 years in the US or is it already approved in UAG’s 6 year program? It is all "in the making" so no definite answer on location or available places. It was mentioned that you might do it at some consulates which is pretty ridiculous so I dont know.

From what I understand thus far in comparing 5th PW and the ECFMG route, the main differences between the two are the extra year (Servicio Social), Titulo, and ECFMG certification, which are not involved in the 5th PW route. But they are still very similar. I know that with the extra year it adds another ~$60,000 to the debt tab, but isn’t it better in the long run to have a full medical degree (ECFMG) than a certificate (5th PW)? I am not trying to trivialize the current situation, but I want to get a better feel for the 6 year-ECFMG route. I am aware that students do not want to waist time with an extra year, but is this the main reason why so many object to it?
My understanding is that the ECFMG route is a "little" bit more complicated and you might have your entrance to residency delayed so it is not as smooth as 5th pathway. Good luck
