following a chameleon
I would just like to comment on the conversation about the three threads. The problem as I see it, in regards to use of the three threads, is that the school keeps changing colors… for instance, the school’s name and website address… and yet the core remains the same. It would be goofy to keep using only the thread entitled “International Medical School of America” when speaking about the latest and greatest version of that school, which is now JGBDL. I think it is fine that the other threads are now locked, as their recent posts lead to the new thread anyhow. I also think the current thread baring the words “Mexican/US” school is more appropriate, due to the chameleon-like nature of the school. In awhile, who would know that just a year ago, JGBDL was IMSA, you know?
I beg to differ with the opinion that “efforts to derail the JGBDL project using these forums are not producing any substantial results.” I’m not sure what kind of results substantiate this claim, but I would say that only 7 students, 3 from the previous year and 4 new ones, is not an indicator that the school is going anywhere. And this forum kept me from losing my money there… so for me, the forum produced substantial results. I also do not feel that because they keep opening under different names that we should throw up our hands and say “oh well” and let the chips fall where they may, and just hope that new inquiring, prospective students will be able to figure it out on their own.
Secondly, why does anyone think that they felt compelled to change the name of the school? Because of the bad publicity and to make it harder to follow their trail and track record. I therefore believe that this forum has played a very important part in that respect… not to “derail” a school… but simply to inform prospective students. Come on, there are 4 students from last year at the school that left and just lost a ton of money. AND Losing 50% or more of your students after the first year is a pretty substantial loss, if you ask me.
The truth is, the JBGDL crowd calls LSW all kinds of names, and sends him nasty e-mails, and they rejoice in the thought that he might be unemployed, but I find it interesting that they cannot refute, and have not yet refuted, anything that he has said about the deficiencies in their program. When Prausnitz and a few others spoke out, it was the same scenario. If LSW’s efforts to “derail” the JGBDL project using these forums were not producing any substantial results, why are the JBGDL crowd sending nasty emails? Why didn’t they get floods of students streaming across the border in droves?
It is interesting too that although three threads were used to let the world know the truth about JBGDL, LSW did not start one of them. He has merely used his wit, knowledge of medicine, knowledge of the deficiencies there and much persistence in keeping the issues fresh in the minds of any newbies that might be lured to this awful school, just as I was.
How many television and radio stations are used to convey the same advertising messages over and over and over, day after day and year after year? Weatherman and LSW ought to be commended for the steadfastness and persistence they have demonstrated in exposing this school.
So should LSW give up telling the truth if he has a conviction that there is wrong being committed at JBGDL? He can if he wishes, but I certainly won’t. I admire his efforts because as I have said before, I’d be a sucker at JBGDL now, or would have just lost my money and a year of my life at IMSA, were it not for he and others on this forum pointing out the history of the school and the background of it’s founder… and the articulating very clearly of the deficiencies and dangers at that place. For me, it was invaluable information. It could be that their students are incredibly naïve… it could be that they just didn’t do their “homework” and research… or it could be that when you talk to the school staff, they are incredibly convincing. Whatever the case may be, I am grateful for this forum and the information I have received here - however the word gets out – with two threads, three threads, or one – it is good information, regardless. As always, this is just my opinion and the way I see it...!
