In general, the answer to your question is "yes". The only difference between first time students and transferring students is that transferring students must submit transcripts for their medical school courses in addition to the ones for undergraduate work. Similarly, UMHS wants a letter of recommendation from the Dean of the Medical School from which you are transferring. These are the onoly significant differences between simply gaining admission and getting advanced standing.

I do need to say that our ability to accept transfer students in May and September will depend on the availablity of faculty. If a third semester student requested admission for May 2008, UMHS would probably ask the student to defer until September since we would not have all of the third semester faculty on island by May. On the other hand, this would all depend on what courses a student has already taken. These admissions with advanced standing would have to be handled on a case-by-case basis. If you are interested in UMHS, file an application, submit unofficial transcripts and the Dean and Admissions Committee will review it and give you a specific answer.
