I don't think the rotation was overrated at all. I waited a year to do my rotation too and I think it's a great place to LEARN general surgery. You won't even have to study for it for Step 2. However, if you want to go into surgery, I agree with the above in that you won't get to PRACTICE too much, unless the attending really trusts you and you have really good residents. Only then will they let you open, suture, etc...it all depends. As for pimping in the OR--there's plenty of it from certain attendings, and yes, one attending completely ignores the students. CCH probably isn't the best place to go if you want to go into surgery, the attendings and residents are BU affiliated...but how often does BU accept Ross students into their residency program? --> haha! It's a great place to be and you get a lot of experience in the summer because the "small community hospital" explodes with tourist patients.
