The more things change the more they stay the same!
I found this site while "surfing" during a study break from my subspecialty recert exam. The point of that statement was to let you all know that there is life after the DR and it is up to you.
I grad. from Universidad Nordestana (SFM) back in '86. I have read several of the threads and my dear friends...all the issues that you guys are dealing with are the same issues that we dealt with! We lived the political uncertainty, rumours, the rise and fall of CETEC and all the negative backlash which that caused.
No preaching from this old guy...all I will say is study to master the concepts because those are the concepts which you will employ in your clinical practice. 20 years latter no one ask me where I went to Med. School. No one here knew the diff. between School A or School B.
Just make sure that you don't damage your chance at licensure by "cutting corners". Do not fudge anything on your record thinking that it will not matter...IT WILL. Whenever, I apply for hosp. priv. the medical school is still contacted for verification.
The only thing that I will say in utter surprise is that the internet would have been a blessing to have back in the day. You could imagine the culture shock and isolation landing into the Cibao back in 1980 without any form of communication with the outside world that was not "Listin Diario" and "Rai-Tel"
Good Luck to All!
