It is only a rhetorical question if you don't think about it. Several people I know, myself included, did not get in with similar or better scores. I don't know how long ago you applied to med school, but a 3.5 is not all that good. Plus, like I said, a higher MCAT score is yet to be achieved. Now then, OP can spend at least a year and a half to find out if he can get a higher score and get accepted into a US school (or not), or he can be done with basic sciences and starting on his clinical rotations at AUC.
Having said that, if it was me, I would be calling up US schools and asking the admissions people about what they consider a good GPA and MCAT scores, instead of some random people on the Internet.
