Technion vs. Sackler

Quote:
Interesting... So that's why several people who were rejected from Sackler now attend Technion. And in regards to MCAT scores, I know of at least one student who was accepted to Technion without an MCAT score. Also, I knew of Technion students trying to transfer to Sackler but were not able to this past year.
ijcMD,
Just because one school rejects a student and another doesn't, doesn't reflect on which school is better. Different schools look for different types of students.

Also, check your facts... No student in the TEAMS program was accepted without an MCAT score. It is a required part of the application. Due to the restructuring of Technion's medical school (leaving from a 5 yr (1 in america) to a 4 yr (in israel)) the application pool was reopened later and people who might not have been able to apply for the 2010 class were given an opportunity to apply later. There were one or two people whose acceptance was CONTINGENT on a certain score on each section of the MCATs, but this was extenuating circumstances for people that took late MCATs (scores not yet reported during their interview). I highly doubt that this will occur again unless their are other "extenuating circumstances".

Also as far as people trying to transfer, I know most of the people in the class, and have had many conversations with the ones thinking of transferring. Their problem was not with the academics, but moreso with logistical and administrative issues. I agree their have been some issues in this area but as a newly reorganized school that is not accepting 4X the amount of students it used to, I found it to be understandable. When the administration was made aware of some of these problems, they were very responsive and immediately began to take steps to improve them.

I am very familiar with Both Sackler and the TEAMS program. I was accepted to both and in the end the TEAMS program seemed the better fit for me. It was in no way an easy choice, both schools have excellent reputations and a strong curriculum (Both with amazing Board PASS rates and Residency placements) They are however, VERY different when looked at up close (Scheduling, Testing, Location, etc...).

In my opinion either school is a great choice.
