hey guys,

well from experience the school sets up your cores, you just tell them your area of preference and they'll try to oblige...it also depends on any openings and how flexible you are...
as for electives, it's usually upto the student to set up their own electives at whatever hospital you want...of course, we have to be allowed to do clinicals in that state or at that hospital...but if u know someone somewhere who can help u out, then do so...
as for starting psych before USMLE results, i dont think we can do that anymore...you can do electives, but no cores...at least from what i know...
right now, for those of you not in med 5, you should be focusing on your studies though and not get too ahead of yourselves...you'll have plenty of time to decide what to do and where to do it...do WELL in your classes, don't just study for the exams and learn your material...ESPECIALLY PD, that class works wonders in clinicals
