The UWI started in Jamaica in 1948 with the Medical School.

The UWI also has another full Medical School in Trinidad which was started in the late 80's

The UWI has as one of its centers for clinical training the QEH in Barbados.

The UWI is well recognized worldwide with thopusands of its graduates in good positions in USA & Canada.

The UWI graduates are eligible for licensure in all 50 states in the USA.

Places in the UWI medical schools are generally limited to West Indians from the 14 countries that contribute to the UWI.

I generally regard it as blasphemy when the UWI is mentioned in this forum and compared with offshore schools.
