The sad thing is that they are basically nice folk, whose dream and faith in a dreamer has led them to this dismal dump.

In a response on this thread, the well informed Weatherman correctly opined that “You will be in an area where illegal immigration and drug smuggling are the primary sources of revenue. The nearest town on the U.S. side is about 30 miles away (Rio Grande City) that barely meets the description of a town. The area around Nuevo Guerrero is rather stark desert. “

I have never been to a more desolate place in my life as this general area. Dominica is far superior, believe you me. I could not believe that I was in America.

Every day when we passed through the US check point, the guards would comment on our living in Rio Grande City. They all said they hated to work in the area because of illegal immigration and drug smuggling, and said they would never live in the area. These officers lived as far as McAllen at least, and swore they could never live in this area.

Certainly the area was very dusty. Not good for folk with post nasal drips, allergies, asthma etc.
