Probaby Fibroids
I don't think you have to rush, but make the appointment now to go to the doctor. It sounds like you have vaginal fibroids. These are pretty rare, but fibroids can recur and since you have a history of them already, that is likely what you are dealing with. The good news is that people can live with fibroids for awhile, only becoming a problem when they become physically bothersome, so you have plenty of time to schedule an appointment without rushing (unless, of course, they bother you.) The bad news is that once in awhile they can occasionally have some precancerous cells assoiated with them.
I was diagnosed with vaginal fibroids several years ago and had them removed. There isn't much info out there on them at all (mainly just the uterine fibroids). Once diagnosed, however, a doc will usually keep an eye out in the years ahead to see if they recur, particularly if the cells involved were precancerous like mine were.
By the way, I ran across your question while searching for info on "vaginal fibroids" because I am now pregnant and afraid that the scar tissue from the surgery will interfere with vaginal delivery (resulting in cesaerian section). Not much luck on getting more info, though - there just aren't enough studies on them!
Good luck!
