the answer:

AZTREONAM

-it is a drug with a monocyclic B-lactam ring
- used to treat gram negative rods - klebsiella/pseudomonas/serratia
NO ACTIVITY against gram positive organisms

can be used to treat infections in patients:
1)who have allergy to penicillin or
2) patients who are renally insufficient - and therefore cannot tolerate Aminoglycosides
