Smile case study

case study

a 45year old white female presents to your clinic with increased urinary urgency and discharge. She reports that this has occured several times over the last year despite antibiotic treatment. On review of her medical records, you notice that she has been treated with both first and second line pharmacological agents for recurrent UTI's. Cultures show that the causative organisms are Klebsiella and Serratia. Her medical history is notable for an allergy to penicillins and cephalosporins. You decide to put the patient on a B-lactam drug that is effective against gram negative rod infections and can be used in patients who have penicillin allergy
