no you don't. you know someone that said they got a 37..it is quite different from someone actually having it. the -1 GPA, -10MCAT, X3 for women and divide by 3 for men rule applies here.
1) -1 GPA: automatically take 1 point away from anyone's GPA. your friend said 3.8 so a 2.8 is closer to the real number
2) -10 MCAT: so someone you know got a 34? well smile and fake some awe because you know a 24 is much closer to reality
3) X3 women: your girlfriend said she has slept with 3 guys in her life: real number is closer to 9 not counting a sex buddy
4) divide by 3: you tell people you've slept with 9 women when you know 3 is the real number
