I am in the second year at the Hradec Kralove faculty and although the Syllabi are different the course is not any easier. The classes are smaller though. Last year we had 70 students start the first year and 33 passed to the second year. We have 37 total because of four people who were interrupting during the last year. Interrupting is when a student decides to postpone the finals from their academic year until the end of the following year because of preparation, personal issues, etc...In prague at the first faculty i believe that most students make it to the second year since the gross anatomy is three semsters there and then the attrition begins. Here the toughest course for first year students is the histology. Its a combination of things such as study habits, getting use to the oral examinations, and motivation that make the difference in the first year of study. Coming form the US it toook me a few months to adjust socially as well. the main thing for me is to stay positive and take it one exam at a time. Hope this was helpful.
