Thumbs up Loving It

Well, I have one month down, and let me say, I feel like MUA was right for me. MUA really prepared me, and I don't feel inferior to anyone here. If anything my clinical experience prepared me more than my fellow interns. Heck, I've even done more and seen more than some of my upper levels too. I feel confident when I am on call and I get a phone call about a pt that is crashing on the floor, or if I have to go to the ER and evaluate and admit a pt, or if I have to go and deliver a baby in the middle of the night by myself. And let me say, all of this has happened numerous times in this first month alone. The attendings here have a lot of confidence in me, and they are very helpful. I love my residency experience so far. MUA clinical spots really get you prepared. Houma alone was perfect for IM, OBGYN, and ER. Lots of pathology in Houma, and lots of freedom to help gain as much experience as you want. Take advantage of the clinical years especially, because once you are in residency, YOU ARE IT!! You have the final answer as to what to do in most situations. Most nurses and staff look to you to make the decisions. Learn as much as you can during your clinicals. Get hands on. Anyways, gotta go for now, but I'll keep you guys informed. Keep with it. By the time you know it, you will be in residency and on your way.
