Jobs
Hi there,
There aren't many jobs on this island for visitors. Many of us work at the bookstore for very little money, or sometimes get lucky and find jobs around campus. Some spouses work at the prep school on campus, that might be an option for you. Maybe you can apply for a deferrment.....
I have to be honest with you, the jobs here are not sufficient to provide major financial benefits, they just help you get by.
As for taking classes, my advice to you is.... get accepted to an online program while you are in the states, then you can work online and achieve your educational goals while living on this beautiful island. The NY Times featured Dominica in its travel section today -- pretty neat since I hadnt heard of it before my husband got accepted. There really arent any educational means for those outside of Ross. They do have a great computer lab and wireless system set up, so online classes are popular amongst us.
Good luck! What a supportive person you are!
