should you be up against someone with similar GPA, if you took the MCAT, you stand with a better chance of getting in.
Hope this helps,
So, far recommended schools with good track records, ie, USMLE and Residency placements are: ROSS, SGU, AUC, SABA, UWI, MUA !
Like in business stay with an institution that delivered in the past and has a solid background, affiliated hospitals in many states and grads can get licensed ANYWHERE !!!

Generally, that's about right, but your mileage may vary. Mine did.
My overall undergrad GPA was lower than a 3.0 due to a disastrous freshman year, I practically failed out of college...I blame it on women, mostly...just kidding

.
However, my science GPA was over a 3.0. I never took the MCAT, but I had lots of clinical experience, a great personal statement, and good grades on my post-bac stuff. I only actually applied to Saba, since I made up my mind about schools before applying, and applied to the one that I felt was right for me.
Saba looked at my whole application and felt that it was a good match, also. I don't don't know if other schools look at the whole person, but it appears Saba does.
