PLanning to spend 1 or more years of my 6yrs residency in australia.
First, you don't have to be a permanent resident. You can get a temporary visa.
Then I really don't think you can apply as intern. If you pass the exam you can apply as house officer. You already did your internship in germani in your PGY1 I guess, as I did. Of course we are not doing it twice.
We want to spend a limited amount of time there so we don't need to do the same things they do, unless you want to take the australian residency too. But I am not interested.
